The Zebra is one of Africa’s most loved animals. Each Zebra’s stripes are unique to the individual animal. This sculpture depicts the animal resting and has been hand carved from Soapstone, this would make a unique addition to any collection. The sculpture is carved using a diamond tipped chisel before being sanded to a smooth finish. It is then heated so that the sculpture can absorb wax which leaves the fine surface. The stripes are then scratched on to the skin of the animal.
Perhaps the perfect ornament to fill that special space. Or maybe a different kind of gift for that special someone or occasion.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Many of our sculptures originate from small and sometimes rural sculptor communities in around the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare. This particular piece originated from a small community based in the suburb known as Chitungwiza where typically 10-12 artists work together to produce these fantastic pieces of art. It is our vision to see these small communities thrive buy providing a platform on which their sculptures can be sold.
