Preying Leopard

African Masters of Stone

  • A wonderfully tactile and beautiful sculpture of a Leopard, hand carved from soapstone stone, which is both delightful to look at and to touch. Unlike other forms of sculpture it is unique since the patterns in the stone cannot be replicated. The piece is carved using a diamond tipped chisel. It is then sanded for literally hours through varying degrees of sand paper until the artist reaches 2500 grade sand paper. The sculpture is then heated and a polish is melted into the stone. Finally it is buffered to leave this wonderfully tactile surface.

Perhaps the perfect ornament to fill that special space. Or maybe a different kind of gift for that special someone or occasion. The sculpture is suitable for inside or outside the home, requiring minimal care.

  •  ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Many of our sculptures originate from small and sometimes rural sculptor communities in around the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare. This particular piece originated from a small community based in the suburb known as Chitungwiza where typically 10-12 artists work together to produce these fantastic pieces of art. It is our vision to see these small communities thrive buy providing a platform on which their sculptures can be sold.
